Too Many Reasons To Love Shopping

Filed under: Gender Issues Parlor — admin at 4:33 pm on Saturday, March 29, 2008

Most women, although not all, love shopping. I’d be lying if I did not place myself in the category of women who love almost nothing more than a great day or two of shopping. There are too many great things about shopping for me to ever stop liking it so much.

For me, one of the biggest reasons I love shopping is because of how relaxing it is. We all know how busy days become busy weeks that become busy months, and once in a while I like to get away from it all by spending an afternoon shopping. Shopping allows me to unwind and to take my mind off all of the more serious things that are happening in life. I can just wander through stores and think about the color of shirt or shoes I am looking for. Of course, living in this sort of dream world would not be healthy all of the time, but once in a while I think it is healthy to escape. Shopping is definitely my preferred method of escape.

Another thing I love about shopping is that it is exciting almost all of the time. I can set out on a shopping trip with one item in mind and end up discovering several other items that I hadn’t thought to buy before. I rarely if ever wander into a store without being pleasantly surprised by at least one item that they have for sale. Shopping is as exciting for me as watching basketball is to my husband. I just cannot get enough of it.

Shopping is a great way for me to connect with friends that I do not often see. Because all of my girlfriends have a love for shopping in common, shopping becomes a great way for us to spend some time together after weeks or months apart. I love that I can go shopping for endless hours with my girlfriends without getting bored. It is fun to shop with people that have unique tastes. I find myself learning from the style of my friends and I gather new ideas for future shopping every time I am with them. Shopping provides us with enough time to share great conversation as well. We never let shopping rush us or distract us from being together, we just shop as we reconnect.

And of course, I must mention that I love shopping because I find great things to wear, to give away, and to decorate my home with whenever I shop. I love to replace old things with new things and to update my style every so often.

It’s official: I, like most women, love shopping. I’m quite sure that it will never be any other way.

Belina Storrey loves shopping almost as much as she loves writing about it. See more about shopping at www.shoppingspot.info.

George Foreman Grill Producer vs. George Foreman Foods Inc.

Filed under: Cooking Stuff — admin at 3:04 pm on Saturday, March 29, 2008

Beyond the fame gained as a heavyweight boxer, becoming world champion in 1973 and 1994, George Foreman has become a renown brand for quite a wide range of quality products. In fact, the name has become so famous as a product brand that many of the younger generation have come to know the famous character through the products sold under this brand. Foreman himself admits that he gained more fame and wealth as a product endorser than he thought possible.

The brand sells from electrical products, to clothes, cleaning products, low-fat, grill-compatible products. However, the most notable of this series is the George Foreman Grill produced by US marketers Salton Inc. The company owns trademarks and trademark registrations for the mark GEORGE FOREMAN in the United States and elsewhere for products used for preparing, cooking, serving foods and beverages since 1995.

In 2002, George Foreman concluded an agreement with an entrepreneur to launch a line of meat products and other foods. The company became George Foreman Foods Inc. and was going to cause a whole series of problems. At present, Foreman is fighting to unwind the contract on the grounds that the company introduced products he didn’t approve, such as coffee and old frozen meat products, thus putting Foreman’s image at a risk of being spread too thin.

On the other hand, Salton Inc., filed a complaint against George Foreman Foods Inc. with the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organisation) Arbitration and Mediation Center on September 24, 2004, on the grounds that the food company’s use of the web domain www.georgeforeman.com breached Salton’s registered trade marks in the name.

While looking at the matter from a holistic point of view, the complaint seems rather well-founded, the company’s use of the domain creating the possibility of “confusion as to the source, sponsorship, affiliation, or endorsement of its web site”, as Salton alleged.

However, WIPO, although admitting that the domain name is identical to the mark in which Salton has rights, agreed that George Foreman Foods did have rights in the disputed domain name. The complaint was denied.

Know The Secrets On How To Attract Men

Filed under: Misc — admin at 11:01 am on Saturday, March 29, 2008

Are you a diva or would you like to be? Learn the secrets that
keep men begging for more.

Why do some women always have men pursuing them, no matter what
their age? I have a friend who is 74 who continually has
interesting successful men asking her out. When I grow up, I
want to be like her. She has sparkle. She has charm. She is a
man magnet.

Recently, I asked a popular man magnet what some of her
strategies were for attracting men, and research substantiates
many of her points. Here are five secret tips to help you
attract the man you want:

Stand in the middle of the room.

Whenever you go to a party, try standing in the center of the
room. (Don’t hunch your shoulders, slouch, or wear a pair of
shoes that hurt your feet so much you can’t stand to stand.)
Move around a little, talk with people near you, but if you want
to be in a position to choose who you want to meet, never sit
down. Stand smack dab in the middle of the crowd. When you see
someone interesting, move near them–gracefully– and start a
conversation.

Stand at the corners of the bar.

If you are at a bar, pub, or nightclub, staying at the corners
of the bar is a good position. It’s easier to meet people there.
Bartenders tend to talk to the people at the corners also. The
worst place to be seen is hanging out near the wall or sitting
at a table or booth with other people. You are more difficult to
approach if you are in a huddle with others. Go places with
friends, but break away from them periodically and talk to
people on your own.

Look your best.

This may sound too obvious, but you never know where or when you
are going to meet someone. Never go out of the house without
looking your best. Even if you are headed to the gym or a run
around the block, put on some lipstick and comb your hair. Know
what colors you look good in, and wear attractive clothes in
your best shades. Men are attracted to pink-peach. That color is
flattering to most skin tones. People are also attracted to you
when you are wearing the color(s) of your eyes. (You have
multiple colors in your eyes–choose clothes that include one of
those colors.)

Be aware of your body language.

Body language is everything. Smile a lot, look people in the
eyes, and when you see someone you are interested in, tilt your
head, drop your eyes, and then look back at him. This may sound
contrived, but it helps to know what subliminal messages are
being sent by your actions. Apparently, giving your hair a
slight flip is also an attraction signal, as well as stroking
the inside of your arm or your neck. If a man is standing across
the room, this is one way to let him know that you would be
interested in talking to him.

What not to do.

Attractive women know not to: talk about themselves non-stop,
fold their arms, chew gum, pick at their nails, jiggle their
foot, or crunch ice. All of this behavior suggests anxiety,
frustration, or poor manners. Also, don’t talk about your Ex.
That is a major turn off.

When you go out and see attractive single men you want to meet,
practice the above five secrets. Being a man magnet simply means
that you are in control of the outcome of your evening, your
week, and your life. Enjoy the adventure!

Burberry for Dogs?

Filed under: Animal Care — admin at 10:29 pm on Friday, March 28, 2008

Burberry is one of the world’s famous designer brands. But branded trenchcoats and sweaters for dogs? A thought that may make you raise your eyebrows!

Is today’s designer fashion selling out? Despite what you might think, high-class designer labels also cater for your pets nowadays as does British luxury label Burberry who has just released their own collection of Burberry clothing for dogs. Most notable features are the famous Burberry trenchcoat for dogs as well as the Check sweater and Burberry dog leash.

Where did this trend start? The origins of dog clothing most probably came from England due to its damp and cold climate, it was very easy for smaller dogs to catch colds when they were taken out. So for a while it was not uncommon to find small dogs dressed in cover-up “raincoats” and sausaged in small waterproof capes.

But the idea of actually dressing your dog and providing them with a wardrobe only came up recently. Sparked by such celebrities as Paris Hilton and her pet chihuahua Tinkerbell as well as the successful Hollywood movie ‘Legally Blonde’, dressing your dog up has become the ultimate in fashion and accesorizing.

From an alligator-skin dog collar and leash set to an elegant Burberry trench coat for dogs, shoes, t-shirts, hats and more you can find just about everything you wear yourself in ‘dog sizes’. Bloomingdale’s, Neiman-Marcus, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, all the biggest names in fashion have pawed their way into the very lucrative pet-accessories market, an industry that gathered an estimated $8 billion during 2004.

Though Burberry aren’t the only designer label to release their own dog clothing collection, Burberry for dogs is definitely the collection with the most fashion credibility if you consider that as well as being English, and therefore well accustomed to bad weather, Thomas Burberry’s initial success was for outdoor wear, trenchcoats and sweaters.

So if you are looking to dress your dog up, think of Burberry for dogs, with their trenchcoats, leashes and custom-made sweaters, your dog will always keep warm whilst looking elegant and refined just like Burberry clothes make you feel when you wear them. It’s a sweet way of extending your love for fashion to your pet.

Unfortunately, Burberry clothing for dogs are a little pricey with the Check sweater for dogs selling at $155 and only available from select Burberry stores. But why not coordinate and shop for a Burberry mesh hat, handbag or sweater for yourself online? Shops like Bluefly.com and Ashford.com sell authentic Burberry clothing and accessories at lower prices than in real shops.

Happy Shopping!

The Greatest Golf Tip: Practice

Filed under: Living With Sports — admin at 7:43 pm on Friday, March 28, 2008

Golf is a sport, and like every other sport, it requires practice in order to be the best that we can. Yet, many players not only don’t practice, but they hate the word itself, it seems. I know a lot of players who only swing a club when they are on the course, playing a round of 9 or 18 holes, and many of these same players are the first to complain that their game never seems to improve.

Well, duh.

Truth is, I’ve found myself in that same mind-set a few times over the years. And like many players, it wasn’t that I didn’t want to practice, it was that I didn’t have the time (or at least I thought I didn’t have the time to practice).

While I’m not sure if the following tips will help you get some practice in, I can attest that they helped me considerably. Here’s what I did:

I took one year (2004) and told myself at the beginning of the year that half of the golf that I would play during the year would be “practice” golf. Yes, I did go on the course with my golfing buddies and play “competitive” golf, but only half the time. The other half of my games were played with no interest whatsoever in the scorecard. Every other round of golf that I played, I played for myself. I would take shots that were not my usual shots, just to see what happened and to see if I could get out of them. Breaking my usual routine was invaluable in learning new skills and new ways to approach the hole.

And it wasn’t nearly as hard as it may sound.

If you play a certain course a lot, you simply look at each hole as if it were brand new. Don’t take the safe shot that you’ve trained yourself to take on a particular hole. Think of another way to get off the tee, a different trajectory for the ball and then follow each later shot from these new lays. It’s fun, it’s challenging, and it will improve your arsenal of shot skills.

To take the pressure off me, I did this (as I mentioned earlier) without a scorecard. I wasn’t trying to “win” on these practice days. I was trying to “learn”.

The second thing I did during this year was think about “time management”. Like most of you, I can’t just disappear for hours to play or practice on the course. So, I decided to come up with some home based practice techniques. It was during this time that I learned how valuable it is to record yourself on video tape for later review. You don’t need to hit a real ball (you can use a plastic practice ball for drives and chips) in your back yard. The important thing is to make the same swing that you always make and then review that swing to determine your weaknesses.

Practice isn’t something that we “should” do. Practice is something we “must” do if we want to improve our game. The thing is to find the practice sessions that work for you and for your schedule.

Are you looking for loans and finding yourself in dilemma with so many loan options in the financial market? Personal loans can cater all your needs and desires.

The purpose of taking loans may differ from person to person. Some would require for purchasing a new or used car, or a new AC for your home, for children’s education, debt consolidation or any other desire. Personal loans in UK are provided by the lenders to allow borrowers turn their dreams into reality.

Borrowers get two options for Personal Loans i.e., secured and unsecured personal loans. Secured personal loans require collateral as a security against the loan amount. Secured personal loans offer larger loan amount at low rate of interest and for a longer period of time. Secured loans also allow using the equity of your home without selling the property.

Unsecured loans on the other hand do not require any collateral against the loan amount. Such loans are suitable for tenants or homeowners who do not want to keep their property as collateral. Such loans are provided at high interest or APR (Annual Percentage Rate).

Credit score plays an important role in getting the loan approval. Credit reporting agencies provide credit scores to the individual looking for loan. Higher the credit score better will be the chance of getting the loan. But now as bad credit is very common, lenders liberally provide loans to the borrowers.

Needs and desires vary with time. Sometimes our personal funds are not sufficient to meet our demands, in such a situation; personal loans can solve all your monetary problems.

Diamond Cut - How Does Yours Shape Up?

Filed under: Life Of Jewelry — admin at 1:36 pm on Friday, March 28, 2008

When one hears of diamond cut they usually think of the different kinds of diamond shapes they’ve seen in jewelry, the princess, the round and so on. In the world of diamond grading diamond cut refers to something else. It refers to how well a jeweler has cut the diamond to achieve maximum carat size and brilliance, or the millions of glittering sparkles you can see when you turn your diamond in the light. Poorly cut diamonds will often sell at a cheaper rate than the better cut. Interestingly ninety five percent of diamonds aren’t cut for optimum brilliance. There are four factors involved in the diamond cut, proportion, finish, symmetry and polish.

The proportions of the cut have to do with the table percentage compared to the depth percentage. The table is the flat surface on the top of each kind of diamond cut, while the depth has to do with the width of the diamond from top to bottom. A good table to depth ratio will allow all light entering the diamond to be reflected back through the surface.

The symmetry of a diamond is how well the facets of a diamond match up. If the facets don’t match then light entering the diamond will leak out the sides and not be properly reflected to the surface. The classifications of symmetry are the same as for polish.

The polish of a diamond refers to how finely polished the surface is to make it very reflective. Diamonds are the hardest materials on earth and they must be polished using diamond grit, so the process is time consuming. The grades for polish range from Ideal to Excellent, Very good, Good, Poor and Fair.

A diamond’s finish is made up of the individual diamonds polish and symmetry. If a finish is very good then the polish and symmetry’s of the diamond were very good, excellent, or ideal.

How to Buy a Cheap Laptop Computer

Filed under: University of Hardware — admin at 1:01 pm on Friday, March 28, 2008

When planning to buy a cheap laptop computer, you need to consider factors that go well beyond performance and memory. You need to consider many factors like size, weight, screen dimensions, battery life, keyboard quality, built-in memory, and also certain other options like wireless connectivity.

Let us now consider some key features you need to consider when buying your laptop.

•Processor: Choosing the right processor is a very important task because the processor determines how quickly a laptop can run applications and perform on-screen tasks. Don’t settle for anything less than 1.4 GHz. This is enough for everyday work-word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail etc. Pentium M processors are good for this purpose. These processors are fast and allow for long battery life.

•System memory: The more memory your laptop has, the more applications you can run at once and the better your laptop will perform. Do not settle for anything less than 128 MB. However note that upgrading memory in laptops is not as easy as in the case of desktop computers.

•Screen size: The size of a laptop’s LCD screen is quoted as a diagonal measurement. The larger the screen, the higher the maximum resolution and the more information you can view at once. For cheap laptops, choosing a 12.1 inches screen is a good option.

•Battery: Thanks to the Pentium M processors. Laptops now have very good battery life when compared to the old ones. Battery life in the units equipped with these chips range roughly from 3 to 7 hours. Choosing a lithium ion rechargeable battery is a good option.

•Hard drive: The larger the hard drive, the more data you can keep on your laptop. For a cheap laptop, it is better to choose hard drives with 20GB or 40GB capacity depending on the usage.

•Keyboard: Laptop keyboards are quite different from the keyboards we use with the desktop computers. The keys are quite small and closely packed. Get hands-on with the laptop keyboard before you actually buy it.

•Pointing device: Opt for a touchpad or pointing stick built into the laptop. This is much more useful than connecting a mouse via a USB port.

•Optical drives: Many manufacturers offer laptops with re-writable DVD drives. However for a budget laptop, a single CD-RW drive is more than sufficient.

•USB ports: Two USB ports are enough for a budget laptop. If you need much more ports, you can always use an external USB hub. A hub usually consists of four or more USB ports and connects to one of your laptop’s USB ports.

•Weight: Your laptop should weigh anywhere between 4 and 10 pounds. If you still want to reduce weight, use can use external floppy and CD drives.

•Communications: Do not opt for serial ports, PS/2 ports and infrared ports as they are becoming rare. Opt for a built-in Ethernet instead.

You’ll probably spend a lot of time with your new laptop. Therefore research a lot before buying any particular brand. Check for user’s stories, consumer opinions, reviews and more. This will help you to get your dream laptop at a low cost.

WHAT IS THE SECRET TO GREATNESS

Filed under: Info — admin at 10:55 am on Friday, March 28, 2008

Since the beginning of time, man is already seeking greatness.
Glory, gold and God were three major reasons that fueled a
Colonial World. Greatness is sought after by all people. Fame,
wealth, prestige and many other forms of power are considered
greatness but what does greatness really mean? Here are
realistic, biblical principles to greatness:

1. Greatness is when you do not follow the crowd.

Noah was considered a crazy man when he built the ark. Great
people are often people with intense desires that they stand
above the rest. Gandhi is one of the most influential leaders of
his time, and his greatness can be attributed to his conviction
to have a peaceful means of protest. If he gave in to the
pressures of the crowd and succumbed to their desire for a
violent means of protesting, then history as we know it would be
different. People who think outside the common knowledge of the
crowd, people who think outside the box. They are given the
chance to be great.

2. Greatness is when you offer yourself to the service of others.

Great leaders all throughout history are leaders that are self
sacrificing. Jesus gave the ultimate sacrifice by giving up
himself to all. Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 20 years,
without his sacrifices for South Africa; the world would be
different right now. Bolivar also served his generation. He took
the call to arms, and thus resulting in the birth of a nation,
Bolivia is named after him. Contrary to the crowds beliefs,
greatness cannot be achieved through violence or excessive use
of force. Greatness happens when you go to the extreme end, it
is when you do not ask for attention, nor seek recognition. When
you toil behind the scenes and behind the camera, when you
continue until the wee hours of the morning, that is greatness.

3. Greatness starts when you have a vision.

A vision is something that you live, and are willing to die for.
It is something bigger than you. Some people call this a cause.
Communism is a vision; just as Martin Luther’s anti-racism
movement is a vision. A vision is something that meets needs,
makes lives better and in the vaguest sense, changes the world.
Visionaries are exceptional people. Griggs Candler of Coca-Cola
believed that one day, everyone in the world will be drinking
Coke. It is his crazy vision which came to pass. Coca cola does
not have any therapeutic value, it is unhealthy, it is made
mostly of addictive chemicals and sugar yet the entire planet
drinks it up. Vision is halfway to greatness.

4. Greatness meets the needs of others.

See the need, feel the need. We often hear this, but we rarely
pay attention to it. Why do you think Bill Gates made millions
of dollars? It is because he found out that the world needs
Personal Computers. He had a vision, that there will be a PC in
every American household. At the time, the idea seemed
preposterous, but he created that need, and he answered our
needs.

Before Starbucks, coffee was not served by the cup in Seattle.
It seemed to be a crazy idea to do so but it met people’s needs
for quality coffee.

5. Greatness is uncompromising.

Greatness stands with its convictions. It does not bow down to
mediocrity. If you really want to be great, it will consume you.
It will eat you up. Many times people who are after greatness
are branded as heretics, lunatics, and crazy. They are scorned,
humiliated and often alone. Einstein is one of the greatest
thinkers of the modern age. He revolutionized the scientific
worldview with his Theories of Relativity. When he was a student
though, people make fun of his wacky ideas. Great men are
disciplined in their field, everything boils down to perfection.
Michael Schumacher, the greatest F1 racer that ever graced this
planet, revealed that he would practice until he perfects his
turns.

We are all destined to greatness. We just have to find our niche
or our environment where we can grow. Not every place can be
considered a fertile soil for you. Find your mission in life.
Search for it and do not give up right smack the middle of your
race. Continue to fight, and do not let adversity put you down.
Greatness welcomes pressures and adversity. Problems will make
you stronger if you learn how to face it. Greatness does not
exist in a vacuum; it does not thrive in utopia. It is greatness
because it exists where chaos lurks. It is for all of us, yet
only a few people dare the journey and take the call to
greatness. Are you up to the challenge?
