Intelius: Going the Distance
Founded in 2003, Intelius is an information commerce company dedicated to providing individuals and businesses with reliable information that can help them make intelligent decisions for their everyday security and safety. The company’s CEO and cofounder is former Microsoft senior executive Naveen Jain.
Last May 2009, Intelius informed their customers and the rest of the public the details of its plans to fully integrate Spock, which it recently acquired. Spock is a company that provides categorized and simplified results for people searches.
Using Intelius’ proprietary semantic technology, comprehensive profiles of individuals can be created through the billions of information gathered from both professional and public databases. Other reliable sources like social networking sites may also be used.
Jain revealed that the company’s reasons for the Spock-Intelius combination is its ongoing commitment to customers who have long been looking for effective and complete people search solutions for their everyday activities. By combining the technology of the two companies, Intelius will be better able to offer integrated solutions and a wider coverage for its online people search.
Over the years, the issue of people search has become common, especially with the emergence of the Internet. A report done by the Pew Internet & American Life Project revealed that around 53% of adults who have Internet access actually searched for information about individuals. The searches are done for a variety of purposes, the most common of which are reestablishing ties, date information, and business networking.
Intellius and Spock’s technology combination initially brought in an average of almost 40 million site visits per month. The number is sure to increase once Spock has been successfully fully integrated. This collaboration also gives customers access to more information gathered from over 250 billion data points. The Intellius-Spock partnership will, therefore, offer customers better chances to find the person, or persons, they are searching for, in the most reliable and comprehensive way.
