Design schools are educational institutions that helps those who wants to learn about the discipline of planning that lays the foundation for the construction of an object or system. In a broader sense, they are taught applied arts and engineering.

There are a lot of Art and Design schools in the United States that offer Bachelor of Fine Arts(BFA) or Master of Fine Arts (MFA) Degrees. In colleges, the BFA, or MFA emphasizes general degree in art and does not need a major in a certain field.

In Washington, Seattle’s International Academy of Design & Technology offers the opportunity to use creativity as a career. They have a curriculum made to enhance skills in the chosen field. This academy is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS).

The other design college in Seattle, Washington that offers are the Cornish College of Arts which is accredited in the Denny Triangle and Capitol Hill. This college was founded in 1914 by Nellie Cornish. It is a small college catering only 800 students and a low number in faculty being the lowest faculty/student ration in the United States giving more attention to the students. It is accredited by the Northwest Commision on Colleges and Universities and the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. They aim to provide their students the highest quality educational program through baccalaureate studies in arts. There are only three private, nonprofit performing and visual arts colleges in the United States and Cornish College of Arts is one of them.

The Art Institute of Seattle offers courses such as Animation Art and Design, Audio Design Technology, Digital Design, Fashio Design, Game and Art Design, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Interior Design, and Web Design and Interactive Media. The institute offers financial aid if you qualify. The ITT Technical Institute, School of Drafting and Design also have a campus in Seattle. This school was founded in 1969 providing career-oriented programs in design.

There are only a few Design Colleges in Seattle and there are only a few students learning design as a degree. This is an advantage if you want to learn more on design because you are given enough attention to perfect the discipline of designing. Therefore, the city of Seattle might just be the best place towards a fulfilling career in the field.
