Fad Diets

A number of people describe a fad diet as a diet that gains rapid popularity and then quickly fades into the background. A precise definition of this type of diet, though, narrows it down even farther.

These classification of diets can be lucrative, but generally the long term results are not encouraging. They may lead to success in a short period of time, but staying with such extreme restrictions and rules typically leads a person to go off the diet and regaining the weight they have lost.

Identifying This Diet

Let’s take a good look some of the popular diets being used today and see how they may be categorized as a fad.

Acai Berry Diet - This diet is based mainly on taking an acai berry supplement. It does fall into a group being based on a specific product, on the other hand, with this particular diet eating healthy and exercising is also emphasized, so it ordinarily is not considered as such.

Atkins - While this is a very popular plan, it does discharge specific food groups and it may not be healthy overall for a long period of time. Some individuals say they have remarkable success on the diet, but if a person goes off the plan afterward people have reported regaining weight back at an alarming rate.

Cabbage Soup Diet - This basically covers every single part of the definition. This is not something you can stick to for a long time. It is not healthy and not a great way to lose weight and plan to keep it off. This is without doubt a fad.

These are three examples of diets that are now doubt fad diets. By looking at these examples you should be able to use this information to help you to determine the right or wrong diet.
