Image Projection

Projecting the right image is an important factor in making sure that a poker game will go your way. Knowing how your opponents perceive you is the first step to taking advantage of them, and the best way to be aware of your image is to control exactly what that image is.

For instance, if you are a bluffer, you want your opponents to think that you play tight poker. You don’t want your opponents to be calling your bets, and if they think that you only bet when you’ve got a hand, they’ll be a lot less likely to call your bluff when youre trying to buy a pot.

Also, if you’re at a table that isn’t playing how you’d like, you image may be able to sway things your way a bit more. If you’re at a passive poker online table, you might find it hard to get anyone to call your bets when you’ve got a hand, and you’ll be looking at a lot of small pots. Projecting a loose image will encourage your opponents to start playing with you-when they think that you play with crap, they’ll start calling your bets and helping you fatten the pots when you’ve got a hand.
