Filed under: Business Success — admin at 1:03 pm on Thursday, July 24, 2008

London is undoubtedly one of the desired capitals to visit in the modern world. What holiday-makers crave in a hotel is radically different from what any London resident would certainly deem necessary. These days there are a lot of diverse variety of hotels about. Therefore you should consider at length about what you’re searching for in a hotel. This is a very individual opinion and with the variety of options on hand to you presently it can unquestionable be a tough decision to make. Time Out has details on a whole range of London Hotels.

Modern, traditional, funky, are you hoping to be well treated, have afternoon tea somewhere astonishing or just have a couple nights to chill out in luxurious rooms.

A couple of the more traditional hotels are the longest and grandest in the City and it has to be said that they are normally filled with a particular category of client, you are not in fact going to sleep here if you are with your children or family. The Ritz, Savoy and Claridges are merely several of these all of which have been about as long as the Victorian years. They have all had restoration work carried out since then nonetheless still hold many of their unique merits and features. There are not many hotels in the world at the moment that offer this particular brand of lavishness, individuals come together from all over the glove to stay at these hotels and the workforce make sure that there time here is without doubt worth the while.

With London recently being a trendy city to come and visit it makes clear sense that they have very fashionable hotels to match. Posh hotels are becoming more and more popular and give a different kind of hotel accommodation than perhaps your more traditional accommodation would offer. If you are searching for some of the greatest then visit areas such as Knightsbridge, Notting Hill and Soho & you’re probably to find just what you’re looking for. Both the Soho Hotel and St Martin Lane Hotel are a number of the most excellent in London.

Growing Your Lawn Care Business - The 4 Areas of Focus

Filed under: Business Success — admin at 10:15 pm on Friday, July 4, 2008

For the most part, the majority of businesses today have the common goal of wanting to grow. This means more customers, more profit, and ultimately more money for the owner.

No matter the industry you’re in or the type of business you run, there are really only 4 ways to achieve this objective. While there are many ways to approach these 4 areas, it’s important to keep them all in perspective as you work to grow your lawn care business.

Here are the 4 main areas of growth and some ways to achieve success in each:

1. Attract more new customers.

This one goes without saying. It’s impossible to grow a business, let alone be successful in business if you’re not constantly adding new customers. Customers are the lifeblood of any business and adding new ones should be a constant focus for any business owner that desires to be successful.

There are countless methods for attracting new customers and this holds true for lawn care companies as well. Here are a few ideas that work particularly well for the green industry:

  • Door hangers, flyers, or leave behinds done in areas where you already have existing clients. You want to keep your clientele relatively close which cuts down on travel times and it allows you do get more done in a shorter period of time.
  • Direct mail such as letter or postcards. Carefully selected mailing lists are a readily available and can produce loads of new customers if done correctly.
  • Create a professional looking website. The internet has become an integral part of the way business is done and the green industry is no exception. Create a website that’s simple, easy to navigate, stresses benefits, and captures your visitors contact information.
  • Develop relationships with other service providers that can refer your services to their existing customers. This is a very powerful way to create a flood of new business very quickly.
  • 2. Increase the average sales amount.

This is a powerful method for growing your business that many LCO’s simply ignore. If you’re already selling a service to a customer, why would you not want to sell them even more services, allowing you to write an even bigger invoice?

Here are several ways you could implement this into your lawn care or landscaping service:

  • Instead of selling just a cut, sell them a shrubbery trim as well. Or how about refreshing their pine straw? Whatever add-on services you provide, do your best to sell your customers these services as well.
  • Year-end is a perfect time to add on additional services such as core aeration, fertilizing, or over-seeding. Spring time is another great opportunity to sell your additional services.
  • Combine several services into a package that would cost less if sold separately. People love feeling like they’re getting a deal and package deals help create that sense.
  • 3. Get existing customers to buy from you more often.

This one is quite possibly the most overlooked aspect of growing a business and yet it’s without a doubt the easiest way to grow your bottom line. If someone has already purchased from you before and if you’ve provided a quality service, selling them again should be a no-brainer.

In fact, the most valuable asset any business has is its existing customer base. You should constantly be looking for opportunities to sell to customers again and again and again.

Here are a few suggestions to take advantage of this method of growing your business:

Get every customer on a contract. This way you are selling your service again and again and again. Do everything in your power to convince your customers that it’s in their best interest to be on a service contract for a pre-defined period of time.

  • Create a system to follow-up with your prospects on a continuous basis. If you’re able to maintain a positive presence with your customers, the likelihood of them buying again and again increase exponentially. This can be done both online (if you have contact information) and offline.
  • Create specials or packages that you can present to your existing customers periodically. You should constantly be looking for additional products or services you can sell.
  • 4. Hold onto customers for life.

This is a very important element to creating a lasting business. Knowing the lifetime value of a customer can be critical in developing a marketing plan that produces results, especially since it will help to know how much you can afford to spend to acquire customers.

Also, the power of holding onto your customers for life can really be seen as the previous methods kick in over time. As you learn to sell more to your new customers and as these customers become repeat buyers, their cumulative value grows and grows.

Here are a few suggestions for holding onto your customers for life:

  • Under-promise and over-deliver. Always go the extra mile for your customers.
  • Ask for testimonials from you satisfied customers. This will give you some insight into how satisfied they are and it gives you a powerful marketing tool.
  • Recognize and reward loyalty. Let you customers know that you appreciate their patronage and from time-to-time send them something that shows you appreciate their business.
  • Now, unfortunately for most businesses, they focus their attention on numbers 1 and 4, which ultimately means they’re leaving potential profits on the table. If a business is spending all it’s time and energy on getting new customers, they’re definitely paying much more than they should to grow their business. However, if they’re only focusing on existing customers at some point their business will slowly dry up as some customer attrition is to be expected.

Overall, the smart lawn care business owner will focus their attention on all four of these aspects. If you spend time and money in each of these areas, you’ll guarantee yourself a thriving lawn care business and one that will undoubtedly be around for years to come.

AOL - MSN Beats Out Google

Filed under: Business Success — admin at 11:35 am on Sunday, June 29, 2008

In the ongoing AOL sweepstakes, it appears MSN may be the winner over Google. So, what will it mean for all three companies?

    AOL On the Block?

As you may know, the AOL unit at Time Warner has been thrashing around for the last year while trying to find a way to remain relevant. The problem for AOL, of course, is the continually decreasing use of dial-up modems as a method for accessing the Internet. Depending on the study you look act, dial-up modem access now accounts for approximately 40 percent of all Internet users. This number is consistently dropping as DSL and cable Internet access systems become more popular. The resulting struggles at AOL are having an interesting impact on the search engine wars.

Google and MSN are trying to position themselves to dominate online search. The situation boils down as follows: Google is the king, MSN wants to be it. This situation takes on particularly interesting impact when one considers that Google now supplies ads and search results to AOL. In doing so, Google derives roughly 10 percent of its revenues from the AOL relationship.

In the summer of 2005, rumors started that AOL was for sale. MSN and Google were obvious buyers. The only problem was both companies realized AOL was a good short term play, but a terrible long term one given the death of dial-up modem systems. So who would buy AOL and how much would they be willing to pay? Would Google let MSN swipe 10 percent of its business? If so, how high could Google drive up the price of AOL for MSN?

    Google Makes Major Mistake

If rumors are to be believed, MSN and Time Warner have reached a deal on the AOL platform. So, how much will MSN pay Time Warner for AOL?

    Nothing. Not one penny.

By the end of December 2005, MSN and Time Warner are expected to announce a partnership wherein the two companies will intertwine their Internet units and pursue joint advertising efforts. In turn, Google will be kicked off all AOL listings, to be replaced by MSN or some AOL-MSN mix of search results and advertisements.

The executives at Google are making a major mistake, a critical blunder. Google will lose 10 percent of its business to MSN without MSN being required to expend any resources for the business. The Google Adwords program, the primary revenue source for Google, will no longer be on AOL. Surely Google could have come up with something more enticing to AOL or at least forced MSN to pay some serious cash for the acquisition. Instead, it failed on both accounts.

Google is a great search engine, but this is just one in a number of business mistakes made by the Internet giant. How could it lose 10 percent of its business without making MSN pay for it? If MSN pulls this off, one will wonder who is at the controls at Google and what they could possibly be thinking.

A Process For Selecting Your Work At Home Business Opportunity

Filed under: Business Success — admin at 11:26 pm on Friday, May 30, 2008

    By Kirk Bannerman

It was back in 2001 when I started looking for viable work at home opportunities. It was a time consuming process, but in retrospect, I give myself a pat on the back every month when I cash the check from my home based business. The primary purpose of this article is to perhaps help others make their selection with a little less time and effort than I had to expend.

Having spent many years running traditional “bricks and mortar” type businesses, I didn’t buy for one second the numerous heavily hyped, or worse yet, scam operations that touted the instant and fantastic riches that could be achieved (often with little or no effort required). While doing my research as to which business I would eventually pursue, this type of claim became an instant
trigger for me to move on to check out some other “opportunity”.

I mean, give me a break, if those claims were close to being true, why would they share their “secret” with anyone else? They would just execute their “magic system” and in short order would have made all the money that exists in the world…yeah, right!

In the course of my investigations, a few other natural filters surfaced to help me narrow down the realistic and legitimate opportunities from among the far too numerous unfounded offers. Early on, I determined that the “get in on the ground floor” offers were essentially smoke. After all, if I wanted to take a chance on the lottery, I would have purchased a ticket. Because of my business management experience, it soon became clear to me that three of the primary factors that would influence my choice would be:

*successful longevity (how long has this particular company been successfully doing business?)

*reasonable income expectations touted by the top management of the company offering the opportunity.

*support systems and training resources available to help the participants succeed.

One thing that really struck home with me was a statement made by the founder of the company that I eventually selected for my home based business. It went something like the following:

“Hardly a day goes by that I don’t hear from an affiliate questioning why he or she is not seeing a big check yet. More times than not, the person asking hasn’t even been involved for more than 90 days and is only barely beginning to even understand how the whole system works. And frankly, even if the number was six months, it’s still much too early to be expecting a significant income stream to have developed.

I always say that if you’re not willing to give a business at least a year, don’t even bother getting involved. You need to understand that it takes time to get to know all the nuances of the compensation plan. It takes time to determine which products you want to lead with. It takes time to develop a game plan. It takes time to figure out what marketing activities deliver the biggest bang for the buck. Anything worthwhile takes sustained effort. If you’re not thinking long term, you’ve set yourself up for failure.”

To sum it up, the selection process should focus on reality (there is no “magic” in home based businesses) and reject any so-called “opportunities” that seem too good to be true.

How To Create A Stream Of Income

Filed under: Business Success — admin at 10:40 pm on Tuesday, May 27, 2008

I must say a lot of people today dream to live a comfortable life but most of them don’t do anything to fulfill that dream. I was one of those people myself until not long ago. It seemed as though there was a way to total abundance in life but I just never got to really focus on that particular area. Maybe for most of us it just seems like pie in the sky, and maybe for others just pure “could not be bothered” mentality.

What if you could take control of your destiny? What if there really was a way to live in total abundance like we all dream of? These questions and many more were constantly floating around in my head, taking me from one state of mind to another. I never got to fully understand my expectations and figure out a way to approach them with a particular strategy.

My life got to the point where I figured that one must plan their life out in order to achieve true success and fulfillment. Instead of just letting the day float by, doing unnecessary activities, with a little planning, a day can well and truly turn into a productive one. Even when you add up a ‘few’ days of productive activity you may be pleasantly surprised how much more you can accomplish.

Figuring out that planning is a necessity in our daily lives, I started writing down my thoughts and plans more frequently. Did you know that ‘just’ by writing down your thoughts, you could enhance your productivity and effectiveness dramatically? I started seeing things much differently doing so.

The next best thing other than living an experience is to see it in your minds eye. In other words using your imagination. This is when I discovered the beauty of NLP (Neuro Linguistics Programming). By simply visualizing events you’d like to experience, gets you closer to the actual thing. This is the basic concept behind NLP. I figured, the more often you visualize something, the more you get closer to physically living it. Adding the concept of planning with visualizing, I had the perfect recipe for achieving what I desire.

Creating a stream of income isn’t all that hard like many of us think it is. As I have mentioned earlier, by planning our days a little, I’m sure most of us can find a spare two or three hours a day. How much more can you accomplish if you knew you had set aside that time each and every day? If you were to think like me, you’d get excited to believe that you have the chance to add an extra stream or two or more of income.

With todays growing use of technology, more and more people are looking at ways to use the internet to create that additional stream of income mentioned earlier. The internet is an amazing tool that every potential entrepreneur or home business owner should closely consider utilizing. With the two to three hours created by planning each day, the internet is the perfect place to use that time to build your very own stream of income (or multiple streams).

When starting out on the internet don’t rush into things, but rather check out your options and see which affiliate programs and possible virtual franchises are available. Being involved in a business that triggers your senses in a positive way, leaves you with a better chance to succeed in the long run. Believing in a program will ensure you to get past the times when things are going tough.

Go to search engines and do searches on business opportunities, compensation plans, support provided by particular companies. Make sure you know what you are getting into and believe that you will succeed in a given period of time. Don’t expect to become a millionaire in a few months but do expect with a couple of years of consistent 2 hours or so work a day, you could be earning well into the 4 figures (possibly 5!).

Make no mistake that planning is the key to any success. Before you do anything make sure you change your attitude first. Then start planning your daily life to create a couple of hours to utilize. Once that accomplished, use the most incredible tool ever created on earth, the internet, to create a stream of income so you can live in total abundance.

A Proven System That Made Me $73K in One Week: The #1 Thing I Learned You Must Have for a Successful

Filed under: Business Success — admin at 11:15 am on Tuesday, May 13, 2008

Yes, the statement above is true. I did make $73,000 last week working 20-25 hours a week from the comfort of my own home. But, that wasn’t always the case. For years, I struggled to find the right business that would pay me what I was worth. For years, I only made $30,000 a year working my tail off 80 hours a week.

I knew there had to be a better way.

The last thing I was doing before I found this powerful system, was fixing auto glass. I was working at a corner gas station not too far from where I live now, sweating it out in the scorching Arizona sun. I’d watch luxury cars come inPorsche, BMW, Mercedesand couldn’t understand why that wasn’t me driving them. I said to myself, “I am hardworking, honest, and driven…why am I not making that kind of money?”

But, the truth was…I hadn’t found the right system. I had tried so many businessesbrick & mortar, franchises, and the all-promising MLM. Nothing provided a proven, money-making, turnkey system.

Until I found the one I am using now…

For years I was so confused. I kept trying business after business, getting my hopes up and then falling into huge disappointment. Now, I wish to share with you what I have learned to save you from the huge frustration and wasted money I experienced.

Before embarking on any home based business it is imperative to have a proven system in place, period. Without it, you will be spending your days working harder and harder until you burn right out. This is exactly what happened to me. In place, must be advanced technology that does most of the work for you. This is very reason why great technology is around…so we humans can stop breaking our backs working like machines.

Before, I thought that the harder I worked the quicker I would see results. I was dead wrong. I have learned from using my powerful system that no one should ever have to work that much.

Now, this system can’t just be any system. First off, it has to be PROVEN. The system I use has made thousands of people millions of dollars for 5 years. When I got started, I saw average people become millionaires and others retire in 2 years!

My system is so easy, that if you can turn on your computer and cut and paste, you can have success.

I knew that I had finally found the right system. I saw other people’s results. These people weren’t rocket scientists or business scions either. So, I greatly encourage you to make sure the home based business you are exploring has a PROVEN system in place with immediate and high financial results.

In my first month, I made $19K - almost as much as my old yearly income!

Next, the system you are considering must be FULLY AUTOMATED. That means while you’re sleeping, while you’re spending time with your family, you are making money. While you are not “working,” the system is working for you. Today, I finally get to spend time with my wife at home. And, just a few months ago we had our first baby. Now, I get to be around to see him grow up…his first crawl, his first walk, and the first word he says. Now, that is priceless.

Again, thanks to technology, we are finally able to live our lives without being chained to a job or a business. We get to experience true freedom putting a few hours in a day, whenever we want to.

With my system you will never have to chase your friends or family members!

Next, the system must have SUPERIOR LEAD GENERATION. Looking at the numbers, home businesses typically have a 1%-2% closing ratio. Your leads must be fully automated and inexpensive. For most home businesses, I have found that you have to shell out at least $5 per lead. If you come across those numbers, I wouldn’t even consider it. It’s too much money to shell out. The system I use costs a fraction of that and is extremely easy to use. Again, if you can turn your computer on and cut and paste, you are ready to rock!

With my system it only costs 5-10 cents per lead!

Finally and most importantly, the system must be DUPLICATABLE. A person new to the system should be able to sit down and start utilizing the system immediately. His or her system should be exactly the same as the one that people generating hundreds of thousands of dollars are using. If a company promises you some kind of formula and it isn’t the exact same thing that the millionaires use, I would definitely walk away.

I hope I have saved you time, money, and much frustration by taking you through what I have learned on my journey in finding the best home business opportunity. To finally make the kind of money you truly deserve and have the freedom to spend it, I invite you, just like someone else invited me 2 years ago, to take a closer look at my proven system.

Keeping records of your Ebay business: Part 4

Filed under: Business Success — admin at 11:16 pm on Saturday, May 3, 2008

The base for any business to survive over the long term,
especially an ebay powerseller business, is to keep accurate
detailed records of everything pertaining to your ebay records.
In our recent articles of parts one through three, we touched up
on the basics of your financial records and how to start a
paper-trail system of your ebay powerseller business that is
both accurate for your personal books and for the IRS at tax
    time.

In today’s article you will learn the importance of tracking
your ebay business inventory and how to sell from that
inventory, whether as FIFO or LIFO. Running an ebay powerseller
business means that you are reaching a great point of success
with your business and in order to stay successful you will need
to account for your inventory meticulously.

You will need to know exactly what is on hand to sell to your
ebay customers and also when you will need to replenish that
inventory to replace the sold items. Unless your ebay
powerseller business revolves around providing digital products
(any product that is delivered via email or downloaded like an
E-book), then stocking your items and tracking them is of utmost
    importance.

How to figure out your ebay powerseller business inventory

Technically speaking, “inventory” refers to any merchandise that
you hold in your home office or your business office that are
for sale to your customers. Not only does this include items
that you have on hand to sell to your customers but it also
includes any supplies that will become part of the item. For
example, if you are selling electronic equipment then any spare
parts like speakers, knobs, wires, etc. are part of your
    inventory list.

How to report your inventory at the end of the year for taxes

When it comes time for you to report your income for the tax
man, you do not report your ebay powerseller items separately.
Instead, everything within your ebay stock should be lumped
together under the umbrella of “inventory”.

In order to know what income to report, you should have recorded
what your ebay inventory was at the beginning of the work year.
This is called “opening inventory”. Next, you will need to have
accurate records of what items that you bought during the year
and added to your ebay powerseller inventory. And of course,
your “closing inventory” is what is left at the end of the year.

Now that you have all three of the above categories accurately
recorded then you will be able to arrive at one key number. This
is called “your cost of goods sold”. And this number enables you
to figure what you made on your sales for the year when
submitting this information in for tax purposes.

    Understanding LIFO and FIFO

What do these two terms have to do with keeping records and
tracking inventory? Let’s start with FIFO. This means “first in
    - first out”. In other words, let’s say that that you resell
books as an ebay powerseller. In January, you purchased a set of
wholesale books that cost you $3.00 each. Then in May you
purchased another set of books to resell that cost you $5.00
each. If you sold all of the books from the first set before
selling the second set, then those were “first in and first out”
    (FIFO).

Next we have the term LIFO and this stands for “last in - first
out”. With LIFO, you would sell all of your ebay powerseller
book items from the last stock purchase you made, before you
    resell the first batch.

Which is best for your ebay powerseller business? That is up to
you. The one you select will invariably affect your cost of
goods sold, which, in turn, will affect your profit for the
year. The method you choose will depend on the trend in prices.
Simply choose a method that you can live with for years to come
and one that fits within the IRS regulations.

When prices are rising, then using LIFO will result in a larger
cost of goods sold so that closing inventory will be higher and
your reportable profits will be lower. But when prices fall, the
opposite result occurs - you’ll wind up paying more taxes with
LIFO than if you’d used FIFO.

    What’s your prospecting personality?

Filed under: Business Success — admin at 10:42 pm on Sunday, March 30, 2008

“I hate prospecting,” a FCO subscriber complained to me last
week. “I know I have to make cold calls to get clients, but
every time I sit down at the phone I break out into a cold
    sweat.”

“Then stop cold calling,” I said.

My answer surprised him. Perhaps it surprises you, too? After
all, aren’t you supposed to do some uncomfortable things to get
your name in front of potential clients?

    Not necessarily.

It makes no sense to do something you hate, even if it works.
Because if you hate it, you won’t do it consistently. (And
consistency is the whole secret behind successful prospecting.)

Prospecting isn’t something you do just when business is slow.
It must be weaved indelibly into your business life, like doing
the books and reading the trades. You need to fish for new
clients monthly, weekly, or even daily. If you don’t, you’ll
become infinitely acquainted with the phrase: “Feast or famine”.

So how do you prospect regularly, without losing your mind? My
advice is to find a method that matches your personality.

In our business, there are four proven prospecting methods:

    1. NETWORKING.

Do you like mingling? Schmoozing? Chatting people up?

Networking can be a very effective strategy. A corporate writer
I know built his business from the ground up primarily by
hanging out at business meetings and conferences.

“I get nervous initially when I attend a networking event,” he
told me recently. “That’s normal. But once I’ve introduced
myself to a couple of people, it becomes fun.”

If you have an outgoing personality, networking may be your
ticket. I suggest you pick events frequented by marketing
professionals rather than the general business crowd. You’ll get
    better results.

    2. WRITING.

This is a comfortable strategy for copywriters. After all, it’s
    what we do best. Write.

There are many ways you can use words to reach potential
clients. Getting articles published in magazines, newsletters,
journals and e-zines are the most popular methods. You can also
write sales letters, press releases, special reports and even
    ads.

Some top-tier magazines (Target Marketing, DM News, etc.) are
difficult to break into. But here’s a tip: If you can’t get in
the front door with your article, try the back door with a
“Letter to the Editor”. These are often easier to get published.

    3. SPEAKING.

If you think you can’t speak before a group because you’re an
introvert, think again. It’s amazing how many so-called shy
    people are professional speakers!

Speaking can be a powerful way to introduce your services to
potential clients. Think about it. If you speak before a group
of 50 marketing managers, you’ve just made 50 new contacts in
less than an hour! Better still, you’ve positioned yourself as a
    go-to expert.

Bob Bly once told me, “Do it right and you always get a new
    client from a speaking engagement.”

How do you get started? Put together a 30 minute presentation on
one or two topics related to your expertise. Then contact local
business groups and ask if they need speakers. For smaller
groups especially, you’ll be welcomed with open arms.

    4. COLD CALLING.

Everyone says they hate cold calls. But they work. A recent
report by MarketingSherpa revealed that in business-to-business
prospecting, cold calls are the fastest way to reach and convert
    new clients.

It may be the fastest, but it can be hard on the ego. When you
prospect by phone, you’ll hear a lot of No’s before you
eventually get a Yes. Most folks will try to brush you off. A
few may even hang up, rudely. It comes with the territory.

Still, many writers have used the phone very successfully. My
friend Chris Marlow, a highly successful software copywriter, is
    a prime example.

Think prospecting by phone fits your personality? If so, I
suggest you read Stephan Schiffman’s TeleSales. It’s the best
book I’ve read on the subject.

So there you have it. Four top prospecting techniques. All work
extremely well. Pick one or two that you’ll enjoy doing most.
Then do it. And keep doing it. Never stop.
