How to Lose Weight in a Healthy Way with Hypnosis

Filed under: Medical Management — admin at 12:57 am on Monday, May 26, 2008

More and more people are turning to hypnosis or hypnotherapy for help with weight loss. Most people who seek the help of a hypnotherapist will have already tried numerous diets or slimming programs with little in the way of lasting results.

Many traditional weight loss programmes leave us feeling frustrated and deprived. Noticeable results are sometimes a longtime coming and in the meantime life seems to be governed by our latest “diet”. Our lack of motivation means that with no immediate benefits to show for all our hard work we tend to just give up - until the next time!

Using hypnosis to aid weight loss, you will feel healthier, more energetic and happier from day one. You will find it easy to be in control of your food intake and exercise routine and you will feel proud of your healthier lifestyle. “Dieting” has never been this good!

In just one session, lasting no more than 2 hours, you will learn to take control and enjoy a healthier, happier life.

Hypnosis is a perfectly natural phenomenon that occurs in both man and in animals and is as much a part of our everyday functioning as seeing and hearing.

There is nothing magical about hypnosis and contrary to popular belief it is not a state of sleep. It is better described as a state of heightened awareness and concentration at one with a feeling of calm and lethargic relaxation.

There are no adverse side effects from hypnosis and it is inconceivable that anyone could come to any harm as a result of it. It is totally safe, natural and non-addictive.

Hypnotherapists use the power of suggestion to induce the hypnotic state in a client and then work with the client’s altered state of awareness to bring about a therapeutic end. This would usually be to help someone to stop doing something that they do not want to do or to start doing something that they would like to be able to do.

Hypnosis itself, therefore, is not an end result but used wisely is a powerful, natural tool in the aid of therapy.

Hypertension, An Alternative Approach

Filed under: Medical Management — admin at 1:27 am on Saturday, May 10, 2008

For many years high blood pressure has been defined based upon actuarial
tables prepared by life insurance companies. By that definition, blood pressure
of 140/90 is borderline hypertension in a person 40 years of age. The
suppressed fact is that blood pressure should rise by 5 points for every decade
of life. Therefore, 145/95 is borderline hypertension in a person of 50 years
old; 150/100, in a person 60 years of age, etc. However, that standard is
almost never applied in prescribing high blood pressure medications.

Recently, a new standard is being applied: 120/80 (for years the gold standard
in blood pressure) has been redefined as “pre-hypertension,” with the
recommendation that medication be prescribed. And, there is no allowance for
increasing age. So, we see headlines such as “Hypertension - An Emerging
Epidemic” on WebMD.

Another very important fact is that most primary hypertension is diagnosed as
“idiopathic,” which basically means the doctors do not know what’s causing it.
We’ve had a variety of medical recommendations for years, but the overall
impact has been minimal (as evidenced by the statistic in paragraph 1, above).
These recommendations include: 1) drug therapy, 2) exercise, 3) dietary
restrictions on salt and fat, 4) weight loss, and 5)avoidance of drugs, including
tobacco and caffeine. The medical point of view is that lifestyle changes are
inadequate.2

I would like to share with you the basic mechanism of “essential” or “idiopathic”
hypertension. These terms are applied to primary hypertension unrelated to an
underlying disease of the kidney or diabetes. Essential hypertension is the
body’s physiologic response to insuring an adequate blood supply to the brain.

For a moment, we need to digress so that you have a picture of how the
circulatory system for the brain works. Inside the cranial vault, the blood
reaches the brain through the carotid and vertebral arteries. It is drained out
into the jugular vein through a system of sinuses which are actually formed by
the meningeal membranes. The meningeal membranes (or dura) are the
fibrous structures which separate the lobes of the brain and actually give the
brain its shape. They include the falx cerebri (which divides the two cerebral
hemispheres), the tentorium cerebelli (which separates the cerebellum from the
occipital lobe of the cerebral hemispheres), the falx cerebelli (which divides the
cerebellar hemispheres) and the diaphragma sellae (which covers the
depression in the skull in which the pituitary resides).3 {You may visit my
website RichardsFamilyHealth.com and view the articles on “Cranial” to view a
cross section of these structures.}

Being membranous, the dura is affected by distortions in the cranial vault,
resulting in twisting of the sinuses and restriction of the outflow of blood from
the brain. Therefore, to bring in more fresh blood and oxygen, higher
peripheral pressure is required to force through the blockage. While in school,
I was privileged to see a dissection of an unpreserved cadaver, demonstrating
the lines of stress in the dura due to cranial distortions. Strokes may occur
when the cranium shifts, suddenly allowing a surge of high pressure through
the fragile capillaries in the brain.

Interesting confirmation of this mechanism comes from veterinary medicine. A
giraffe has a peripheral blood pressure of about 350/300 in order to get blood
to the brain. Yet, their intracranial pressure is very similar to humans. They
also have a specialized vascular structure at the base of their brain to
compensate for changes in pressure as they raise and lower their heads while
feeding and drinking. The critical point is that the higher pressure is necessary
to pump the blood up into the brain.

So, the question becomes: What can be done about essential hypertension?
Probably the most effective way to control it is through cranial adjusting,
restoring normal motion to the cranial vault and removing the restrictions
which cause the pressure to rise. I have spoken to many alternative health
practitioners, and the consensus of opinion is that the effect of herbal
interventions is minimal, compared to the benefits of cranial adjusting. As an
added benefit, cranial therapy is completely free of side effects! {See my article
on the side effects of high blood pressure medications at
www.richardsfamilyhealth.com).}

Of course, if there is underlying pathology, either diabetes or renal disease,
that process needs to be addressed as well. In many instances, that means
herbal therapy or nutritional supplements.

Power Max is Foundational Because of Sea Vegetation

Filed under: Medical Management — admin at 10:09 pm on Wednesday, April 30, 2008

Experts all agree, that with today’s depleted soils, chemicals in our foods, processed foods, it is difficult, if not impossible to get the nutrition your body needs from our food.

That is one reason why diseases are so rampant today!

THINK ABOUT THESE FACTS, THEN ASK YOURSELF ONE VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION, DO YOU THINK YOUR BODY IS GETTING THE NUTRITION IT NEEDS?

Facts…

Fast foods are loaded with preservatives, dyes and chemicals.
Fruits and vegetables are being grown in chemical fertilizers, pesticides and waste contaminates.
Fruits and vegetables are sprayed, processed, radiated and often coated with toxic chemicals.

Solution: Drink Sea Energy or Power Max every day and enjoy pristine foundational nutrition without radiation exposure and without all the chemical additives.

Facts…

There is an increase of skin disorders (i.e. acne, psoriasis, eczema, etc.).
There are long-term negative side effects of certain medications.
There are negative side effects of alcohol, tobacco and drugs.

Solution: Strengthen your body with great nutrition and Sea Energy to have the healthiest skin possible.

Facts…

Improper food preparation causes major nutrient loss.
Anarem Report states, out of 21,500 individuals, not a single individual consumed 100% of the 10 most needed nutrients in the body.
U.S. Senate Document #264 states, 99% of the American people are deficient in minerals and deficiency in any one of the more important minerals actually results in disease.

Solution: Nourish your body at the cellular level.

Facts…

There is more stress and pressure in everyday life then ever before.
The #1 complaint doctors hear from their patients is a lack of energy.
The earths oxygen levels are at their lowest ever, creating many health challenges.

Solution: Oxygenate your bodys cells.

Facts…

There is environmental pollution of our water and air.
There are toxins received from our work environment (i.e. computers, fluorescent lights, etc.).
There is constant bombarding of toxins to our bodies from our diet (i.e. refined sugar, refined flour, etc.).

Solution: Increase the body’s power to heal itself and adapt better with foundational nutrition from Sea Energy and Power Max.

Facts…

The incidents of immune system diseases have increased over 200% in the last five years.
Our bodys ability to respond to many antibiotics has lessened over the last several years.
Antibiotics, synthetic hormones, steroids, drugs and toxic chemicals are being fed to our beef, poultry and pork. These proven carcinogenic substances depress our immune system.

Solution : Strengthen your immune system with foundational nutrition and the active ingredients in Aloe Vera from drinking Sea Energy and Power Max every day.

Battling Cancer with Whiskey

Filed under: Medical Management — admin at 9:54 pm on Monday, April 21, 2008

Some scientists believe that whiskey may be one of the keys to preventing the Big C.

For a quite a number of years, liquor has been known not only to bring destructive intoxication and addiction upon its patrons, but also as deterrent to a healthy lifestyle. But as a potential weapon against cancer? Sounds controversial.

Rumors that single malt whiskey may be a tool to combat cancer have begun circulating recently. Whether it actually holds any water has yet to be proven. According to one of the theory’s proponents, a consultant to the whiskey industry, Dr. Jim Swan, the antioxidants present in whiskey, particularly ellagic acid, can reduce the risk of developing cancer, since this acid fights the unstable atoms that aid in rapid cell replication. He added that the more cells were produced, the more likely that rogue cancer cells will be born. “Whiskey can protect you from cancer and science proves it,” he said, speaking at the EuroMedLab 2005 conference in Glasgow. Dr Swan explained that ellagic acid, which is in greater concentration in whiskey than in red wine, breaks down the harmful free radicals present in our body.

However, Cancer Research UK remains unconvinced. The agency has raised concerns that what Dr Swan and his supporters are pushing might mislead consumers into drinking excessive amounts of whiskey just to avoid cancer. Cancer Research noted that liquor intake can eventually lead to certain kinds of cancer, such as those in the esophagus, throat, mouth, bowel and liver. Dr Swan’s idea that whiskey can prevent cancer also received criticism, owing mostly to an absence of population data supporting them. Contrariwise, according to the agency’s head of cancer information Lesley Walker, there exists evidence that high alcohol consumption does increase cancer risks. Ms Walker noted that while ellagic acid is a formidable antioxidant and may greatly aid in the fight against cancer, its presence in whiskey is not reason enough for people to begin drinking up, especially as ellagic acid can also be found in certain fruits.

The concept that a certain type of alcohol may help deter cancer is novel and, for frequent drinkers, even noble. What liquor patron would ignore this theory? But, still, Dr Swan’s ideas remain untested and there does not exist any known positive link between whiskey and cancer. If there would be something that suggest this is true sometime in the future, then it will be considered revolutionary. However, in the absence of adequate information at present, whiskey as a deterrent to cancer is a dubious thought. While we all hope and pray that an alternative treatment to cancer will surface soon, this is probably not the time to become this optimistic about whiskey’s alleged benefits.

Prostate Cancer Symptoms: Prostate Treatment, Radiation, and More

Filed under: Medical Management — admin at 12:26 am on Sunday, March 30, 2008

How common is Prostate Cancer and what are the Symptoms? Prostate Cancer Symptoms can be hard to detect but it helps to know what you are looking for. In this article Prostate Cancer Symptoms: Prostate Treatment, Radiation and more, my goal is to briefly introduce you to Prostate Cancer so that you have an outline of important information if you ever find yourself, or someone you love in this situation.

How common is Prostate Cancer? How do I know if I have prostate cancer? These are very important questions. Prostate Cancer is the second most common form of cancer in men and is usually found in men over 50 years of age. The best protection you can offer yourself from this life threatening disease, is to arm yourself with the knowledge that will help you to detect it early on. The faster you pick up on these Symptoms, the better off you will be.

Prostate Cancer Symptoms:

-Difficulty starting to pass urine

-Weak or intermittent flow of urine

-Dribbling of urine before and after urinating

-Frequent or urgent need to pass urine

-Need to get up several times in the night to urinate

-Bladder never feels completely empty

-Occasionally finding blood in the urine

One of the most common symptoms listed above is the difficulty starting to pass urine, but keep your eye out for the others. If you have any of these symptoms for prostate cancer, you should see a qualified doctor as soon as possible.

Most of the time if the cancer has not spread, treatment with Radiation Therapy will be the recommended procedure. Another common form of treatment is Radical Prostatectomy. This procedure involves having the whole prostate and its dependent parts removed. This is a very intense operation and is only recommended for those in good health. Doctors also commonly recommend hormone therapy to help suppress your testosterone levels. This will slow down the division process of the cancer. Hormone therapy can be used alone or with other procedures like radiation treatment.

Chemotherapy uses chemicals to kill cancer cells, but Chemotherapy is only used when the cancer has spread past the prostate. The drugs used in chemotherapy are administered on an outpatient basis and do not typically require a hospital stay. I defiantly recommend researching the various treatment options in depth as the topic is worthy of a relatively large book.

Herbal Products

Filed under: Medical Management — admin at 4:00 pm on Monday, March 24, 2008

HERBAL PRODUCTS are comprised of herbal care remedies, such as ointments like Tea Tree ointment. Tea Tree ointment has the ability to help and cure dermatitis, excema and fungal infections.

Other herbal products like Camomile Oil, for instance, have the capability to improve the health of persons with skin problems; e.g. - scars, minor burns, sunburn, insect bites and even hemmorhoids. More common herbal products are used in massage oils that promote deep relaxation.

Herbal products can even be perfume creams that not only soften the skin but leave an aromatic scent. One of the more fascinating herbal products, passes as a cooking oil and a natural skin helper. The herbal product in reference is Olive Oil. Olive oil, an an herbal product, is a superb dietary enhancer, and equally helps prevent sunburn; and acts as a natural mosquito repellent as well!

Futhermore, herbal products are used in natural shampoos, conditioners, body washes, soaps, perfumes, colognes, etc. Most of our medicines used today are derived from native cultures. A matter of fact, approximately 25% of prescription drugs in the US contain at least one active plant material ingredient.

Currently, over four billion people or eighty percent of the world population use herbal products for some forms of natural healthcare. Ayurvedic practitioners, homeopathic practitioners, naturopathic practitioners, traditional Oriental practitioners and Native American Indians commonly utilize herbal products in their practice. Today, pharmaceutical companies are extensively researching rain forest plant materials for their medicinal potential.

Herbal products are extremely versatile. One can use them for health and body, baking & cooking, natural healing, incense, candles, and so much more.

If you are seeking herbal products and would like to learn more about them, feel free to check our herbal products’ directory for an herbal product retailer or practitioner near you today!
