Maryland home inspections have most certainly been around most likely as long as houses have been. The buyer would often ask someone they knew, suck as a parent, friend, or sometimes even a builder, to pass judgement on the house they were hoping to buy, or planning to sell.
All too often, that judgment was based on scanty observation, little understanding of what was important, or someone who was not versed or knowledgeable in the building trades. These times were a long time ago, when buildings were simpler, and the techniques used to construct them were much simpler, and as was the case, it was much easier to perform an assessment.

What VoIP Can Do to Help Businesses Weather the Recession

Filed under: University Of Telecommunication — admin at 8:58 pm on Wednesday, November 11, 2009

One of the most predictable outcomes of the present-day recession is that a great many people are seeking ways to save money. The telecommunications industry is not unaffected by this trend and the fiscal climate has sparked a surge of interest in VoIP services.

VoIP stands for Voice over Internet Protocol and it has gathered a huge level of interest due to the fact that VoIP calls are made via a broadband internet connection at a far cheaper cost than calls made with a phone connected to a landline. In these cost-conscious days there has been a growing awareness that a sizeable phone bill is not only an unwanted expense but an avoidable one. Cheap VoIP calls are a highly attractive alternative for users in all sectors of the market.

The growth in popularity of VoIP telephony is especially dramatic in the business world. Many VoIP business users have found that their running costs have been dramatically decreased when they have shifted from the traditional phone system to a VoIP phone system. VoIP service providers offer a vital cost saving alternative for large and small businesses and can help users stay profitable in a cutthroat marketplace.

The introduction of a voip phone system into a workplace can have advantageous effects on the way that the company operates. It should not be forgotten that VoIP systems offer much more than just a way of saving a good deal of money. There are some practical benefits too.

Another great plus that some VoIP providers offer with certain plans is free long distance calls and you can also get free features such as caller id, three-way calling, call waiting and voice mail that offer additional value and convenience. If you were using a traditional phone system these sort of advanced features would usually cost extra.

A lot of telephony industry commentators are forecasting that VoIP is genuinely the phone of the future. It is seen as very likely that the important benefits that voip phone systems offer will mean that eventually VoIP calls will replace the traditional system completely.

Unlimited Music Download Service Scrapped by Virgin Media

Filed under: Consumer World, Life Of Music, University Of Telecommunication — admin at 10:45 am on Friday, November 6, 2009

The news website The Register has reported that Virgin Media is about to launch a music download service during Christmas. The subscription plan will be 40 MP3 downloads for £15 a month. This plan is definitely not what the ISP had earlier promised. The company had earlier planned for a top-level subscription option of unlimited music download, and its subscribers had been eagerly awaiting its launch.

However, as a concession of sorts, consumers of the present plan will have the benefit of unlimited streaming of music tracks.

The announcement of the plan came from the company in the month of June. A spokesperson for Virgin Media Broadband has announced the intention of the company to take on Universal Music as their partner, although talks are on with other labels too. The main competitors of Universal Music are Sony Music and EMI, who are a bit apprehensive due to the announcement of this proposed partnership.

Not to be left behind, other service providers are also planning to enter this lucrative market. BSkyB has already come out with a formal announcement of its intentions to launch a similar service. The details of the service, to be known as Sky Songs, are yet to be worked out.

Ofcom, in its Communications Market report, has stated that the stability shown by various communication products during recession was second only to toiletries and groceries. They went on to add that the communications market was actually very strong and had registered a considerable rise in the number of users in this year, despite the recession.

Telecoms regulator Ofcom studies market trends in the communication sector and in its current report it has given an insight into the £52 billion industry, which includes TV, radio, broadband, mobile etc. In the over 300 page report, it shows how the consumers have reacted to the economic turmoil by tightening their spending and how this has affected the communications business.

Statistics show that this year the UK has seen an increase in the number of people using broadband from last year’s 58 per cent to 65 per cent, which is about two-thirds of the population. Moreover, according to the report, more than 80 per cent of the population was able to access the Local Loop Unbundling service, a method by which operators use their own equipment at the local exchange. This marks a clear 4 per cent rise from the previous year.

The report also stated that 2009 was a high point for the broadband subscribers as they got access to high speed broadband like never before. Mobile Broadband Sales Go Through the Roof

Filed under: Consumer World, Online Technology Resources, University Of Telecommunication — admin at 6:57 am on Thursday, June 25, 2009

Following the release of the Digital Britain report, the popularity of mobile broadband has soared with sales reaching over 20,000 per week. Quoting these figures, Mobile Today has stated that if the present trends continue, this number will increase rapidly in the coming months.

The Digital Britain report was progressive in its content and recommendations, and has identified mobile broadband as a key factor in the growth of the communication sector in the UK. Mobile broadband networks have seen only positive growth this year despite the recession - market research company Gfk has reported that the sales have increased from 27,000 last October to 58,000 in January of this year.

Originally a business networking tool, mobile broadband has now become a tool of the masses, as a larger number of people spend a significant amount of time online each day. Superior net-savvy gadgetry such as the iPhone has enhanced the exposure of the public to mobile internet, and ironically, the country’s lack of complete wired broadband connectivity has also boosted mobile broadband significantly.

Mobile broadband technology is being marketed in a variety of innovative ways, with exciting new offers available every day. The customer exposure is also very high, as was succinctly observed by one marketer that the mobile broadband dongles ’sell themselves’ - click for info on pay as you go dongle. This positive market atmosphere attracts droves of customers, particularly with freebies such as the wildly popular laptop bundle packages being on offer.

Why Use a Telecom Master Agent?

Filed under: Business Success, University Of Telecommunication — admin at 8:04 am on Saturday, April 4, 2009

Any business has to be constantly aware of the emerging trends and technologies in the telecommunications industry and study how these can be leveraged to reduce their telecommunications costs. For example, employing VOIP over an IP-PBX phone system can lead to substantial savings. Using VoIP, calling from one computer to another is absolutely free. And even though calling a phone mobile or landline - from a computer involves a certain fee, this is significantly less than the international call charges that the company would have to expect were they made over the conventional landline.

Businesses can also consider employing specialised software packages to break down not only telecom bills but also rates and plans, as well as to compare various vendor offerings. Another option is for businesses to outsource to experts who specialize in telecom analysis and cost management, thereby accomplishing better results at lower costs.

One of the best ways a business can ensure that it is receiving the most robust and cost effective solution, is to work with a telecom master agent that represents different carriers providing different services such as commercial long distance and local phone service, high speed internet access, data services or even integrated voice and data services. A master agent first understands the telecommunications needs of a business and then works with the carriers it represents to provide a host of solutions that will fit these needs as also the budget of the company.

Taking this in to consideration, it should seem apparent that bringing down telecom costs should be seen as a priority for most businesses. All The Same, managing telecom costs is not an easy task either for a Fortune 500 company or a small business. With hundreds or thousands of invoices for various services being received, it is hard work to go carefully through all expenses listed. Further, this is just one part of the problem. To really manage telecommunications costs, a business has to have a regular and across-the-board strategy to monitor and change, if need be, various plans, services and resources.

When it is time for renewing a contract, businesses should make sure their contracts are competitive, instead of just automatically renewing their present contract. They can request various carriers to supply details of specific plans or packages the company is interested in and ask them to quote a price for those services, or have a master agent compare costs.

It is also important that outright billing errors be discovered and rectified. Billing faults can be of different types ” a line or service that has been discontinued continues to be billed, costs indicated in contracts or quotes are not being reflected, there are incorrect assessment of taxes and many more. Inspecting telecom bills is time consuming and though the errors detected may not seem to add up to much per month, when accumulated over the year, they add significantly to total telecom costs.

Ofcom Statistics Indicate Increased Online Usage

Filed under: Consumer World, Online Technology Resources, University Of Telecommunication — admin at 6:11 am on Friday, August 22, 2008

An August 2008 annual report by Ofcom indicated that consumers in the UK are obviously spending an increased time connected to the internet, but are paying less for the privilege. Peter Philips, Partner, Strategy and Market Development, also stated that even though we are using our communication devices for longer periods of time, it is costing less money. This he believes is due to a healthy competitor market, which has resulted in prices that offer a higher value for your money. Ofcom is meeting their goal in helping deliver that the consumers demand.

The report further indicated that there has been an increase in the use of communication services. The biggest increase was in mobile internet usage, which almost quadrupled in the past five years. However, the actual household spending on communications services fell by 1.6 percent since 2006.

The fall in prices is due to several factors. Subscriptions to bundled packages are on the rise, because the bundled packages come with discounts, which is an incentive. Sales on bundles of three or more services almost doubled from 18 percent to 32 percent between 2006 and 2008. Another contributing factor is the lowering of broadband prices, and lastly consumers hunting for better bargains and the best deals. By March 2008, statistics indicated that approximately 27% of subscribers had switched their ISP at least once.
